Food Foresters at the Forest Showcase

Yorkley Court Community Farm visited the Forest Showcase on Sunday to launch our workers cooperative, the Food Foresters. It was a fantastic day. We enjoyed mingling with the engaged and intergenerational crowd and were inspired by the enthusiasm of children, parents, grandparents and great-grandparents alike.

The Food Foresters is our initiative to help introduce landscapes that are beautiful, practical and edible to private and public spaces around the Forest of Dean.

Forests are traditionally abundant places, providing food, fuel, fibre, medicine, fodder, forage and fun for their inhabitants, a far reach from the forests we are more likely to see planted today.

Within our cooperative we have specialists in organic gardening, fruit and veg growing, permaculture consultation, design and implementation, natural building and broadacre agroecological solutions to help conventional farmers transition to more sustainable farming practices.

The Food Foresters look forward to working with individuals and communities around the Forest of Dean to create beautiful, diverse and abundant landscapes for generations to come.
