Over the past couple of months we have been designing a community garden for the Lydney Youth Cafe. The garden will be a creative space for the use of the various groups that use the Cafe in Lydney. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the space it’s a small plot behind the high street butchers, alongside the co-op carpark and visible from the Co-op entrance.
It has been much neglected but we think it will make for a perfect community garden for Lydney. There will be fruit trees, raised beds for growing food, a cob oven and a vertical growing sculpture. We are also fortunate that Tom Cousins and Kestral from YCCF will be designing the artistic elements of the space such as murals and sculptures.
On the 19th December we will have a launch party from 4pm to 8pm. This is a great opportunity drop by for a mince pie and a Xmas drink, have a chat and see the designs for the garden.
We are running a raffle to raise money for the project and the raffle tickets are available on the Dean Forest Food Hub. It’s easy to buy them online just go to deanforestfoodhub.org.uk, follow the sign up instructions and you’ll find the raffle tickets listed in the “other” category. Or, of course you can buy them on the 19th. The raffle will be drawn on the 22nd just in time for Xmas.
So we hope to see you on the 19th December! Feel free to drop by any time from 4pm to 8pm. It will be great to catch up with those of you we haven’t seen for a while.
