We hope to start planning and working on expanding the woodland with the local community. Not only to learn simple practices of woodland management but also to develop the woodland to need the needs of future generations. We will begin this process by planting further coppice stands of chestnut, hazel and willow.
The small regenerative woodland contains ash, elder, hawthorn, oak, beech and goat willow. By coppicing the goat willow we can create space for other useful species of willow suited to the boggy conditions. The Goat willow also provide fodder for pigs and goats. We need to work on the drainage of this lower part of the land creating ponds in the woodland and thereby creating greater biodiversity.
